Self-levelling compound calculator
The calculator needs JavaScript. The worked example, formula and figures below show exactly how it works, so you can do the sum yourself. A guide, not advice. Check your supplier's or maker's figures before ordering.
Short answer
Worked example
| You enter | Value |
|---|---|
| Floor area | Room: rectangle 4 m × 2.5 m |
| Tapered or feathered pour | No |
| Average depth | 3 mm |
| Consumption | 1.6 kg/m²/mm |
| Bag size | 20 kg |
Order: 3 bags of levelling compound (48.0 kg)
| Result | Value |
|---|---|
| Bags | 3 |
| Compound | 48 kg |
| Average depth | 3 mm |
| Area | 10 m² |
Show the working
- Compound: 10 m² × 3 mm × 1.6 kg/m²/mm × 1 (0% waste) = 48 kg
- Bags: 48 kg ÷ 20 kg, rounded up = 3
How it works
- Average depth = (thinnest + thickest) ÷ 2 for a tapered pour
- Compound (kg) = area (m²) × average depth (mm) × consumption (kg/m²/mm) × (1 + waste)
- Bags = kg ÷ bag size, rounded up; primer (L) = area ÷ primer coverage; water = bags × water per bag
Consumption, maximum depth and mixing water vary by product: use the figures on your bag.
Our default (adjustable)
